General description

Daidzein is an isoflavone found in soybeans. Regulates oxidative stress, angiogenesis, cell growth, and apoptosis. Daidzein has antioxidant, antiestrogenic, and antiatherogenic properties. Provides protection against osteoporosis.

Request

Daidzein has been used:

  • as a control to assess fertility in rats
  • to study its effects on ovarian cancer
  • to stimulate antioxidant activity in vitro

Packaging

  • 25 mg in a polyethylene bottle
  • 100 mg in a glass bottle
  • Packed under argon.

Biochemical / Physiological Actions

The soy isoflavone daidzein protects against oxidative damage to liver cells induced by 7,12-dimethy lbenzo [a] anthracene (DMBA). Catalase and superoxide dismutase activity, down-regulated by DMBA, was restored by daidzein. Daidzein is a phytoestrogen that is suggested to play a role in the prevention of hormone-induced cancers. Stops the cell cycle at G1 in Swiss 3T3 cells.
